The Point of Care Testing in General Practice Trial (PoCT) was a clinical trial concerning the use of point of care testing in general practice in both urban and rural Australia. I was a rural surveyor for this trial, where our duties involved practice visits to ensure that the conditions of the trial were being met. A clinician, an administrator and a laboratory technician were in each team. The checking included such things as patients enrolled in the trial had to meet the set criteria, testing had to completed according to protocol, and reagents had to be stored correctly.
